Nestled in the suburbs of Charm City, the Steady Cash Urban Management company has acquired an apartment community in dire need of renovation. Windows leak water, storm drains back up, sewer lines clog several times a year.

And some residents kill their neighbors.

SCUM has been renovating the property in phases, shutting down one building at a time and moving long-time residents into the updated apartments.

The first building to complete renovations was 73 Micro Street. 10 residents were chosen by lottery to move-in to the new units. The first night in the new building was festive and an impromptu party was held in the laundry room.

The next morning, the resident from apartment 1B, one of the ground floor units, was found shot to death in the laundry room. After the brief and cursory police investigation, the remaining residents agreed to form the Modern Apartment Families Investigation Association. Nightly MAFIA meetings are to be held in the laundry during which ritualistic lynchings, agreed upon by a majority of residents, would occur. This will hopefully weed out the bad apples and make for a better community.
