Ooh, cool. I'd been thinking about something like this, but had never worked out the details/gotten people together to do it. It's a somewhat high cheating level, at least for my tastes. I'd probably specify that the dead shouldn't try to influence the game, but that's pretty unenforceable.

So the cops act as a mason group with a shared investigation ability? I've seen it played that way, usually offline, and am not really sure whether I like it or not.

Couldn't the guardian angel go around everyone's doors at 7:50 or so to see who's been X-ed?

It is true that a lot of cheating/accidents happened. It happened to work rather well in the case of that particular game, but in general I would agree that that should be avoided. As for the dead not influencing the game.. i think that might just be something you have to live with. First of all, in a week long game, it is really harsh on the people who die right away if they can't do anything ever again. Even in regular Mafia, I've often thought it a bit of a flaw in the game that so many people have to sit silently for so long. One semi-solution to the problem of being dead not being such a bad thing is to reward everyone who's alive each day, with a cookie or anything else small and repeatable. This doesn't stop the dead from influencing the game, but at least it gives you some incentive to try not to die.

About the cops, yes. They all meet and discuss who they want to pick, and then the leader goes and tells God. Having four separate cops would be a bit much, i think. Anyway, it worked rather well for us. You can of course do whatever you want.

Lastly, no. Every character must tell their choice to God before 8PM, before any X's have been made. Then God goes and puts the white circle around the X if anyone was saved.

Btw, are you the Norinel from B-Nomic? If so, hi! I wish I still had time to be active in that... Oh well.

In the most recent offline group I've played with, the fun thing about being dead is just getting outside the circle and watching with less pressure and getting to see who's scum and stuff. We also had other stuff going on, so wandering off worked as well.

Yeah, I did B Nomic for a little bit and am just following the lists now. Hi! I know at least two other former players play/played here. -- Norinel 2005-09-18 00:05 UTC
