History

ISMETA and the Formation of ONM (November 2011 - March 2012)

The history of MafiaScum in competitive League of Legends began with a small tournament called League of Tournaments, which was announced in November 2011. To compete, I'm So Meta Even This Acronym (ISMETA) was formed by JDodge, Shanba, hitogoroshi, Patrick, and Fate. While the tournament itself mostly fizzled and died, ISMETA continued on for a couple of months with the addition of Nuwen and Bella.

After a while of ISMETA existing as a ranked 5s team, JDodge decided to form his own team for the sake of playing in actual tournaments again; in addition, the idea of a team with Team Asshat members pickemgenius and Flameaxe sounded like a really good one. Shanba and Patrick also continued along as members of ONM in addition to staying on ISMETA. This lead to a core line-up of pickemgenius (AD Carry), Flameaxe (Support), JDodge (Jungle), Shanba (Top) and Patrick (Mid). In addition, Bella, IH, scotmany12, and bv310 were brought on as substitute players.

Early Go4LoLs and Roster Changes (March 2012 - July 2012)

The first Go4LoL tournament that ONM participated in was held on April 22nd, 2012. Their first match was a walkover win over Arctic Wolves. The second match was a very, very close come from behind victory over Little T-rex Arms. The third match was a crushing defeat to 2k Elo team Sexy Korean Girls.

Their second and third Go4LoL tournaments were both first-round losses for the team, to Dowon and TtS The Trolls respectively. Their fourth would prove slightly more successful as they defeated Death X Lancers on the way to a second round defeat vs Oddball Gaming. Their fifth and final Go4LoL would prove to be like their second and third, with a defeat in the first round to Put Some Wards Up.

Following this, ONM would sit mostly dormant for a month as schedules conflicted and time zone issues continued to hamper practice efforts with half the team in Europe and the other half in the US. As a result, on July 14th, Patrick and Shanba were replaced whilst a large roster shift took place. JDodge moved from jungle to mid lane, with Flameaxe taking over the jungle position. The support position was taken by Papa Zito, with Panzerjager rounding out the roster in top lane.

ESL Open Division IV (July 2012 - October 2012)

With the new roster, ONM decided to enter their first long-term event - the ESL Open Division, season IV. The first few weeks of the team went well, with ONM going undefeated in their first matches of the season. After 2 further months of practice and hard work, ONM was seated at the top having gone 4-1 through the first weeks of the tournament. Unfortunately, due to a rather massive falling-out, Panzerjager was kicked from the team and replaced with scotmany12 as a new permanent top laner. Fortunately, securing a walkover win in their final game of the season pushed ONM forward into the playoffs.

Unfortunately, that momentum failed to carry over as the most appropriately-named team for the job, violent worm eating birds, managed to take ONM down in the first round of the playoffs. Despite that, the season was dubbed a success, with the goal going in having been solely to finish the season with a winning record. With this in mind, ONM went slightly dormant, with regularly scheduled practice towards a yet undetermined next event entered.

Turbulence and Roster Changes (October 2012 - April 2012)

The next six months would be spent in somewhat aimless practice. After the loss in the playoffs of Open Division, a lane swap occured, with JDodge returning to the jungle, Flameaxe returning to support, and Papa Zito moving to mid lane. In January, Flameaxe stepped down due to school, becoming the team's coach and advisor. Long-term ONM substitute IH was added onto the team as his replacement in the jungle, with JDodge shifting to support. In February, JDodge and Papa Zito lane swapped with JDodge returning to mid lane and Papa Zito returning to support.

ESL Open Division VI (April 2012-present)

IH chose to step down in early March, citing differences in playstyle to the rest of the team. This lead to ONM bringing on lil g as their new jungler. This arrangement lasted for roughly a month before technical difficulties and possibly a small head injury required lil g to step down as well. This prompted a much larger search, with ONM searching for players off-site for the first time in the team's history. The search ended on April 13, with the new player still yet to be announced. They have also decided to once again enter ESL Open Division in the hopes of giving themselves a strong goal to work towards.
