gun shop is a Large setup in which townies can't be nightkilled if they figure out the scum team. It's typically played with short deadlines.

Setup

- On the first Day, all townies send in a ranking of all players. If a townie doesn't send in an action later on, their visit will default to the top living player on their list.
- Every Night, the Mafia can arm a townie for the night. This is their only factional action.
- Townies visiting an armed player will both arm themselves for that night and die. This means that not only townies visiting scum's target will die, but also townies who visit townies who visit scum's target, townies who visit townies who visit townies who visit scum's target, and so on.
- Even nights are skipped, resulting in a day/night/day/day/night cycle.
- If no majority vote occurs before deadline, eliminations are decided by plurality. In the case of a tie, the player who got their last vote first dies.

Play advice

Town

If you target scum, you cannot be killed during the night. However, if it seems like scum only arm scummy townies, it may be a good idea to target a universal town read you trust to target scum.

The safest base strategy I can think of is to target your less fashionable scum reads, although no fixed public strategy is bound to work.

Don't massclaim your future targets. This will result in at least two deaths every night.

Be transparent about your reads. The increased elimination/visit accuracy that results from transparency does outweigh the danger of having a multi-kill because scum outguessed the town's targets.

Keeping a personal pet scum so you can target them at night is comparable to playing poorly in a normal game so you won't be nightkilled. Just get your suspects eliminated.

Mafia

Never give up before being eliminated. If you hardclaim scum and the town decides to keep you around, you'll essentially turn the game nightless.

Recommended deadline rules

Days last 6 days. Nights last 48 hours, but scum can cut the Night short if all townies have sent in their actions. On Day 1 and on replacements' first Days, players will be replaced after 72 hours of low activity. After that, players will be replaced after 6 days of low activity.

Deadlines are suspended while a player is being replaced. Once a replacement is found, either the old deadline is reinstated, or the deadline is set to 48 hours from the moment of replacement, whatever comes later.
