Famous is a modifier that causes the existence of the attached role to be known, however the identity of the role will not be known.

A Famous role may be of any alignment.

Standard version

A Famous role is revealed to exist in the setup, however the Famous role's identity is not revealed.

Variations

Alternately, a Famous role may choose to have the existence of their role revealed at any time, or have the existence of their role revealed at a predetermined time.

Superstar is a similar modifier that instead outright reveals the Superstar as having a role.

Use & Balance

Famous is the same as saying "this role exists in this setup". The variants allow for setup info to be released either at a player's discretion or at a later time in the game.
