Don't Trust the Cops (aka Don't Trust Titus) is a semi-open setup game for 21 players, with roles heavily borrowed from almost-every site Titus has been on. THIS IS NOT AN APPROVED, OPEN SETUP. EACH RUN OF THIS SETUP MUST BE VERIFIED FOR BALANCE! DO NOT USE WITHOUT REVIEW!

        • Check Balance as needed according to the FAQ. Make adjustments as needed.

Getting to Role PMs

Roll for each category. Document each number drawn. Those numbers are the roles for each category. If scum get two or more of 1-shot daybig, neighborizing psychotic jailkeeper, or dirty old bastard, reroll. Roll a number one through 5. That scum is the scum is the "undetectable" scum. Roll a number one through 3. This determines what type of investigation immune the scum are.

Roll three numbers 1 through 21. 16-20 are the scum. 21 is the third party. Assign each number rolled a negative modifier that makes sense with their role PM. For instance, a drunk VT is not appropriate, as they rarely get feedback.

Check for balance. If the game is unbalanced, reroll as little as possible.

Mechanics/FAQ

  • Daystart
  • This uses an Order of Operations. This is because NAR leaves questions of what resolves first.
  • If a role has a component that tells alignment (cop, gunsmith, "weak", godfathers return as town).
  • If a cop or the gunsmith and the doctor are in the same setup, the scum have a one shot strongman per cop and gunsmith. This is to prevent follow the cop. These strongmen kills are enabled by the cop and the gunsmith. If the cops and the gunsmiths or the doctors die, the scum no longer have the strongman kills. If scum burn the strongman, then they are vulnerable to follow the cop.
  • If two doctors are in the setup, scum get an additional strongman use. This is to prevent mandatory doc circle.
  • Scum Dirty Old Bastards, Day-vigs and neighborizing psychotic jailkeepers are kills in addition to the normal night kill.
  • Any scum player can kill and use their ability in the same night. They will "visit" both locations for the purposes of trackers and watchers. If a player somehow targets a player twice, trackers and watchers only see one visit.
  • Scum do not have daychat unless they have an encryptor.

Roleblocking resolves before all other actions.

  • A roleblocker cannot be roleblocked. Targeting a roleblocker does nothing.
  • A roleblocker targeting a Neighborizing Psychotic Jailkeeper/Kidnapper, prevents the kill but not the jailing.
  • A self-targeting bus driver is not immune from roleblocking.
  • No other role is immune from roleblocking, unless stated specifically in its role PM.
  • Any investigative role, if roleblocked, receives no feedback.
  • If a bus driver is redirected, his first target is changed to who the redirector selects, even if he selected himself.
  • Mods should check for any breaking scenarios after rolling, but there should not be any. If the setup is unfair, reroll.

Role Descriptions

Statuses

Ascetic (Neg. Utility or Scum Undetectable)

You cannot be targeted by any night actions but for killing actions.

Compulsive (Neg. Utility)

You must act every night unless roleblocked. In the case of a compulsive Neighborizing Jailkeeper, they MUST jail and execute the first jailed target during night 1. Failure to select a target will mean a target will be selected by the mod at random, without regard to wincon plausibiliy. You cannot target yourself at random.

Drunk (Neg. Utility)

Your feedback goes to another player at random.

Godfather (Scum Undetectable)

You appear as town to all cop and gunsmith checks.

Gravedigger (Neg. Utlity)

You appear as if you killed someone that an anti-town each and every night, even if you're roleblocked or otherwise incapable of killing.

Hated (Neg. Utility)

You take one vote less to eliminate.

Janitored (Neg. Utility)

The slot flips as John Doe, Unknown Alignment, Unknown Role.

Miller (Neg. Utility)

You appear as scum to all cop and gunsmith checks.

Ninja (Neg. Utility or Scum Undetectable)

You are invisible to all track/watch abilities, including Big Brother.

Strongman Killer

This modifier is not player specific and only appears when cops, gunsmiths and doctors are on the town side to prevent follow the cop. It bypasses all redirection, roleblocking and healing to kill the target, even jailors.

Weak (Neg. Utility)

Anytime you target a group scum role, you die.

Roles

Arsonist

Each night you can choose to ignite one player, or douse all players previously ignited. Players are not notified if ignited. During Day 1, You can pick to be immune to the first night guilty investigations on you or the first night of nightkills on you. Once selected, this cannot be changed.

Actress

Select one player at night. If you flip, you will flip as this player's role and alignment but with a different flavor name. If you are a Godfather Actress, you will still be detectable by a coroner.

Agent

Select one player at night. You know who they targeted and who targeted them.

Amnesiac

You can select the role of one player in the graveyard and you become that role. In the event you pick an actress, you become an actress not the role they appeared as. The alignment of the amnesiac never changes.

Big Brother (1-shot)

You see everyone that was visited at night and by how many people. You detect self-visits. VTs and other roles that do not act are not visits. You do not have the ability to determine who visited anyone on any given night.

Bulletproof

You absorb the first night kill on your swap.

Bus Driver

You take all actions targeting a slot and swap them with another slot.

Commuter

You vanish from the room, making most actions targeting you fail. Roleblocker can prevent this, but you are immune to Bus Drivers. You cannot commute on consecutive nights.

Consort

You're an undercover hooker working for the police. You sleep with someone all night preventing them from performing their action.

Cop

Check a player to determine their alignment. Can check the dead.

Coroner

Can reveal information on janitored and actress flips.

Day-Vig (1 shot)

You can shoot a player during the day.

Dirty Old Bastard

When you die, you can take one player with you.

Doctor

You can heal a given player at night from one night kill.

Drug Dealer

You can send a player false feedback or a message of your choosing bypassing all redirections. It cannot be signed.

Encryptor

You enable mafia day chat.

Escort

As it sounds, you're a hooker and you sleep with someone all night preventing them from performing their action.

Framer

Make someone appear guilty to any and all investigations but for Big Brother.

Gunsmith

You check to see if a player has a gun. A player has a gun if they are scum, third party, or killing. A mafia doctor is the only exception to this.

Informed Townie

You will know another player is town at the start of the game. This will not be a lie or preventable. This will be rolled at random.

Jailor (Mafiascum normal variant)

You're a normal jailor.

Judge

You can make a single elimination into a no elimination, or any no elimination into an elimination onto any living player in the game but yourself. You cannot do this to your own elimination or to eliminate yourself.

(See historical note).

Mass Murderer

You can kill anyone who visits a location. You cannot stay at your house two nights in a row. If you kill more than one person, you are roleblocked the next night. You can pick to be immune to the first night guilty investigations on you or the first night of nightkills on you during day 1. Once selected, this cannot be changed.

Neighborizer

You can select someone to create a neighborhood with them the following night. Each night thereafter, the neighborizer can add someone to the hood. The hood is permanent until the neighborizer dies. Then the neighborhood ends.

Neighborizing Psychotic Jailkeeper/Kidnapper

You pick someone during the DAY. You will then jail them at night. You have a hood with them and remove them from any other hood/scumchat they would otherwise have. You are anonymous in this hood. Once per game, you may execute your target. If you are redirected and have an execution available, you'll execute your target involuntarily. Your target will be roleblocked and protected from all kills.

You may only execute your target once. You can continue using the other features after your execution. Your kill may be blocked by any method but for another psychotic killer.

Mod Note: These hoods should be done by quicktopics to preserve the anonymity of the jailors/kidnappers.

Overzealous Bartender

You give people the "drunk" condition. Their feedback will randomly go to another player in the game.

Pretender

At the start of each night, you'll get a new role. This role PM cannot be blocked and is determined pregame. Even if a neighborizing psychotic jailkeeper jails you, you will get a role PM you cannot use. You will not receive any one shot ability (including Stalker, Big Brother, Amnesiac and Wagon Sensor).

Riddler

Each night, you can match players to their role (alignment not required), one at a time. You can submit as many as you want, but after your first wrong match, the rest have no effect. You can pick to be immune to the first night guilty investigations on you or the first night of nightkills on you during day 1. Once selected, this cannot be changed.

Rolecop

Each night, pick a player. You will figure out what role they would flip as.

Serial Killer

You can kill one player each night. You can pick to be immune to the first night guilty investigations on you or the first night of nightkills on you during day 1. Once selected, this cannot be changed.

Stalker

On any night, you can pick a player. You'll track that player every night until one of you dies. You cannot be blocked or redirected after the initial targeting but you cannot change your target. If you are blocked during the initial targeting, the slot is lost. Your initial targeting can be redirected.

Tracker

Pick a player at night and follow them.

Unscrupulous Messenger

You can send a message to any player, ignoring all redirection at night. It cannot be signed.

Vanilla Townie

You are a vanilla townie.

Veteran aka Paranoid Gun Owner

You have three vests. Anytime you don a vest, anyone who visits you dies. This can be blocked, then no one will die but only by neighborizing jailkeepers.

Wagon Sensor

Once per game, you may sensor a wagon. The wagon may have no more than 5 players on it.

Vigilante

You can kill someone each night.

Watcher

Pick a player each night, you will see who visited them.

WiFom City: Don't Trust Titus - Day 7 (note *)

  • (This version had a multi-use judge, such a role should be explicitly limited to one shot in the future. That was always Titus's intent but she forgot the explicit "one shot on overturning an elimination" and could not change rules mid game.)
