Angel Nightless

Angel Nightless is a Mafia Mutation based on the Hurt/Heal mechanic, instead of regular Voting. As far as he is aware, Mr. Flay invented it. He has run five variations of it so far:
- War in Heaven, a Mini Theme
- Battle for Heaven, a Marathon Day game
- War in Heaven II, a Large Theme
- War in Heaven III], a Large Theme (destroyed by the Great Rollback)
- War is Hell, a Mini Theme (ongoing)
Anyone is welcome to run games using the basic setup, though.
Characteristics
While some details have changed in each instance, common features include:
- Hurts and Heals, dealt in-thread by all players. In normal-speed versions on MafiaScum.net, these actions recharge in 24 hours.
- Nightless; all actions recharge based on time and resolve strictly in time order even if the moderator has not returned to the thread (a player who has been taken to 0 HP may not utilize unspent Rage Points (see below) or Hurt/Heal anyone).
- Players have set HP; rather than a majority of votes, when they reach 0 HP for any reason, they are 'dead' (or cast out, depending on flavor).
- 'Fallen' (Scum) roles may generally have any role that 'Loyal' angels (Town) have, with broadly identical characteristics but different flavor. The additional ability they have are "Rage Points", which may be spent on secret damage. Usually different role types have a different 'cap' on how many RP they may have. In the normal-speed games, they have accrued RP at 1/week/Fallen player.
- Relatively few "power roles":
- Seraphim have extra HP and have a flaming sword that allows them to deal double-damage in exchange for a longer recharge time (usually 1.5x as long).
- Ophanim are Trackers, looking for secret actions (either Scum or Town). They typically have lower HP than the base role.
- Erelim have the same HP as Seraphim, but no ability to do extra damage.
- To avoid too much mod-confirmation, 'damage counts' (analogous to Vote Counts) are not done more often than half as often as the recharge cycle (12 hours in a normal-speed game).
- No "endgaming" - even when Fallen angels outnumber the town, they must actually whittle their opponents down to 0 HP directly, to allow for special roles or Fallen players not paying attention and falling behind in 'battle'.
