A vanilla player is a player who does not have a power role, i.e. they have factional abilities and nothing else.
The vanilla roles for each of the standard factions are:
- Town: Vanilla Townie
- Mafia: Mafia Goon
- Werewolf: no standard name; sometimes just named Werewolf, sometimes "Werewolf Goon" by analogy with the Mafia
- Cult: Cultist
- Serial Killer: a Serial Killer with just a nightkill, no investigation immunity or bulletproofing
For less common third party roles, such as Condemners, there is no common standard on what versions of the role (if any) are considered vanilla.
Vanilla players can be detected by Vanilla Cops.
