MafiaWiki talk:To-do
From the PM:
Right, I've moved the wiki flat files over to /mafiawiki and moved MediaWiki to /wiki. The change on the wiki shouldn't be noticeable unless I've messed something up (jeep might want to check to make sure I haven't...).
Anyway, Mr. Flay and I have been playing a bit with MediaWiki, but now I want to invite the newly formed Wiki Group to register and test as well. Once you've registered we'll set you up as a Sysop (you'll probably only ever need this added access for the few protected pages we might have).
Before we get started on the bulk of the moving, there's probably a few things we should discuss, such as:
Categories - What categories do we need? (Roles, Rules/Gameplay, Games, Setups, Users, Forum, Wiki... what else?) Format and Style - How should pages be formatted? Within a category, I'd like to keep things pretty standard. Also some style conventions... how to name pages, stuff like that. Stuff We Should Have - I've mentioned one above; I'd really like to see us start getting some information on the games we've played on the wiki. I think one of the next things I will play with is making pages for the Open Games... mess around with the format and such. Likewise with the setups, I'd like to get the various Open Setups from the discussion thread on the wiki for easy reference. What else?
Anyway, that's enough to get us started for now.
Categories
Apart from the ones mith suggested I'd like a Community, and a Mish-Mash category. (Mish-Mash is for rules of common Mish-Mash games, Community is for all sorts of articles that don't really have a direct connection to the game, nor to a specific player (Examples: MeMeMeet, Scummie, History of mafiascum.net). Furthermore, I suggest to split what mith called Rules/Gameplay into two different categories: Rules and Strategy or something.... (I'm not particularly happy with the name 'Rules', stuff like newbie guides should go there too, who can think of something better?)

I left out "Theory", which is where I would put Strategy type stuff (metagame stuff, logical fallacies, etc.). What I meant by Gameplay was terms such as "Day Start", or even just very basic stuff like "Lynch", "Deadline", etc.
All names are of course subject to change.

- I definitely like having a Mish-Mash category; Community sounds like it could encompass quite a bit at present, maybe we should roll that one around for a bit in our brains. It's relatively easy for someone with sysop rights to delete old categories if they turn out to be a crappy system, and anyone can reorganize any unprotected pages, so that doesn't seem too big a deal. I created some of the basic-duh ones tonight, check out Special:Categories and Category:Categories. -- Mr. Flay 01:50, 21 September 2006 (MDT)
Namespaces
mith, we probably need to visit renaming a few of the namespaces (well, one, anyway). [[Project:]] got set to Mafia Wiki Test during the testing, but I think it has to be changed at the configuration level (unless I just can't find the MediaWiki file). What do we want to call it? For example, Wikipedia calls this their Wikipedia: namespace, A Wheel of Time wiki uses Wotwiki:, and the Psychology Wiki on Wikia just uses... Psychology Wiki:. I'm fond of anything that doesn't include spaces, just cuz it's easier for me to type, but I don't have strong feelings. Maybe MafiaWiki:? -- Mr. Flay 01:48, 21 September 2006 (MDT)
Yeah, I'll look for it later today. Should've named it right to begin with.

Spam procedures
Obviously right now we're open to anonymous editing. We might want to consider implementing the Spam Blacklist as a less intrusive way of tying to manage our ViaGRA-loving friends from .ru.... -- Mr. Flay 02:35, 21 September 2006 (MDT)
