Vanilla Townie - Lynched D2 |
Mafia Win |
A very interesting game for my first attempt at mafia. It was a bit of a fiasco on my part (I ended up being the first person to be lynched, and while I managed to stumble my way onto the scumteam in a roundabout way during Day 2, I messed up determining who the scumteam was by trying to make connections when I really didn't know what to look for, which ultimately left me clueless on actual scum. I also was so confident after making my first wallpost that I asked for doctor protection, which led to another fiasco of its own. Whoops.), but ultimately, it was a fantastic first learning experience. Alex (the scum I butted heads with for the majority of the game) ended up being an older player (Haylen), which made me feel a little better about the loss, but also gave me a rival, but a sour loss is a sour loss and it's one of those things you end up remembering for a long time.

Town Win |
My first win, but I didn't really deserve it. This game taught me a lot of things about how to get lynches pushed through, why claiming and being clear about your claim is a good thing, and why tunneling is a terrible, terrible thing (although I wouldn't learn this lesson for a very long time). This was one of those games with a very intense D1 with a bunch of crazy shit happening, and then after the first mislynch, the game gets pretty clear. I also built up some cool town synergy with Chinaman in this one, which was pretty cool, but we ended up turning on each other pretty intensely after the final scum was hammered. Which shows it always pays never to give up until the moderator flips everyone, even if it is only for drawing out amusing reactions.

Ah, now this was a win I deserved! I replaced in late-game, which gave me a bit of advantage, and then promptly started pushing to lynch the cop with a guilty on the last scum. I succeeded, and she never outed her result. Next day, in 3 player LyLo, I attacked both players pretty hard, and ended up voting the scum. The townie read over the cop's posts, figured out that she was trying to breadcrumb a guilty on the scum, and hammered. Fun, clean game, and mad props to RPG Twilight for surviving as long as he did in that one.

Vanilla Townie - Lynched D1 |
Town Win |
A game with mixed memories, this one. It was the first game where my strong angry tunneling self attached onto scum, but it didn't exactly turn out too well for me. The town was a bit... inactive, with flakers galore (mod + IC included). The IC ended up tunneling pretty hard on me day 1, which I thought I defended pretty well against, but it wasn't enough and I ended up being deadline lynched, which wasn't so bad, I guess. This ended up being a pretty long newbie game on record, mostly because of Ythan's insane posting (563 posts, my god). It was his first newbie game and he pulled scum, and it was a pretty impressive performance; but it was also Thor's first newbie game, and he was a pretty big threat that survived until LyLo and ended up winning it. Soylent's endgame flavor was pretty chuckleworthy, but I have to be honest I know nothing of the middle of this game because it was so damn long and I was a skimmer back then.

Vanilla Townie - Night Killed Night 5 |
Mafia Win |
This game was a HUGE turning point for me as a player, I think. It was the first time I was nightkilled, which felt good even though it was very late in the game, but it was also an awesome game. I was playing pretty poorly early in the game, but after Haylen spared me from a Day 1 lynch, I stepped it up a bit. The next day, two major wagons formed; one on sposh, and one on Haylen. I defended Haylen like hell, got a sposh lynch, but he flipped scum. Then there was a no lynch/no kill game played around by the scum a little until I drove through a lynch on Jase/SaintKerrigan scum which ended up getting me killed over the night. Then a different townie was lynched because his connections to lynched scum looked fishy as hell, but it's a loss to VRK and that's not exactly something to be ashamed of. One of my favorite games of all time, though. It was hard fought, and hard lost.

Vanilla Townie - Endgamed |
Mafia Win |
Pretty cool game, got to play with some awesome players (Ellibereth, Zorblag, and Pulindar). Elli and SensFan ended up being scum with SensFan and Elli pulling a fake cop claim to fake counterclaim gambit that was interesting. I picked up on the bullshit decently quickly after Elli died, but I had a lot of trouble convincing everyone else that I wasn't just tunneling. LyLo came down to Zorblag, Pul, and I, with Zorblag and I cross-voting and Pul holding the hammer vote. It was a hell of a fight, but Pulindar ended up not getting the hammer down in time. It was on the right person though, so I take a tiny bit of solace in that.

Vanilla Townie - Endgamed |
Mafia Win |
Another sour loss, although we sort of got steamrolled in this one. I ended up with some classic double-tunneling on two townies day 2, managing to get one of them lynched, while the other one was nightkilled. The next day, scum came out with a guilty on me, which turned into kind of a shitshow. I attacked him for claiming an innocent read on someone he was attacking for most of the day, and one of the other townies agreed with me, held back his vote while he looked for a partner. Meanwhile, the other townie voted another townie, one of the scum flaked, and we had to wait very long for Zach to replace in and coordinate a quickhammer with his partner. Argh.

Vanilla Townie - Lynched D3 |
Mafia Win |
Last game when I said we got steamrolled was also a bit inaccurate. This game we were utterly destroyed. Scumteam was Furry and Acosmist, we outed our doctor Day 1, I lurked hard, Elli lurked hard, and the game ended on a no-lynch. Ouch. It's a painful game to talk about, but it's a good lesson to make sure that someone you trust is leading the town and not to let the town get apathetic; if you are lurking in a lagging game as town and you don't feel like getting it started, replace out and get someone who can in the slot. Many things kill a town, but apathy is the worst of all of the evils.

Doctor - Night Killed Night 1 |
Mafia Win |
My first game as an IC, I think? It's pretty entertaining comparing my style of then to my style of now, though; back then, I was polite, didn't post often, relied mainly on walls to get my point across, used a big ol' IC post to introduce, and actually put up with that RQS bullshit. How the times have changed... Anyways, this was a "get killed Night 1, scum rolls town" kind of game, but it's not like I would have changed the outcome of the game at all. The closest I got to finding scum was having the weaker member of my team third on my scumlist, which might have resulted in a weak push much, much later in the game, but Deer's play was superb and I doubt I would have gotten anywhere near catching him as scum. I think this was also my first time being killed Night 1, and that felt pretty damn good.

Mafia Roleblocker - Survived |
Mafia Win |
Excellent game, this one. It was my first time rolling scum, and I got it with Nobody Special, who was a pretty great partner. It started out as a pretty conventional game, though. Lynch the easy mislynch day 1, buddy up with someone and let two townies who are having some conflicts battle it out before swooping in for a late vote, then fake a cop guilty on a townie in LyLo. But Equinox ended up putting up a hell of a fight, confirmed my partner as scum somehow someway, then took us to 3 player LyLo with Thor as the deciding vote. It was extraordinarily intense, with us getting dragged into a wall war which ultimately ended up as us throwing literally everything we could possibly think of at each other but still manage to keep going, somehow... But in the end, Thor chose Equinox, not me, and that felt good. Another one of my favorite games. AurorusVox's first newbie game, but I killed that man before he had a chance to do shit because Lemon can be scary.

Vanilla Townie - Lynched D3 |
Mafia Win |
Not my best game. Hell, not even close to a good game for me. I ended up lurking far too much, while pushing lynches on ALL TOWN and defending the only scum who managed to get lynched (thanks to Shotty's intervention) pretty damn hard, which ended up being my demise the next day, leaving scum to win pretty handily. I also let paranoia guide me pretty hard this game, which was not good not good. Not a game that I like to remember, but the lesson was learned.

MOOOSE! This game was pretty awesome. I lurked hard in the beginning, which was bad, but in LyLo I finally got my shit together and found the scumteam after one of them self-destructed a bit. I got one lynched the first day of LyLo, and on the second, we ended up crossvoting almost immediately, leaving the hammer to moose. He sent us through a hell of a ride, threatening to hammer me when he was sober almost as soon as LyLo begun and then being steadily convinced the other way until he hammered for the town win. Very enjoyable game.

Mafia Goon - Survived |
Mafia Win |
Crazy game, this one. One of those wins you don't deserve, this one. Mastin and I ended up being scumpartners, and it was a rough uphill battle for the majority of the way. I hadn't much experience with mafia at this point and wasn't quite comfortable with reacting to things when my scumplans went awry, and pulled off some shitty terrible distancing with Mastin, and he didn't lynch me on a crucial day and we basically ended up becoming lovers, which was not fun. We also had our kill stopped twice (twice!) before we managed to lynch him thanks to DLG replacing in later in the game. LyLo was not so bad compared to the rest of the game, but it was a hell of a game that I enjoyed very much. It was also my first time playing with Mastin, who ended up being a player that would help my play improve by leaps and bounds and bounds and bounds. Plus, DLG. Damn.

Vanilla Townie - Lynched Day 4 |
Mafia Win |
This game taught me some LESSONS, man. I had defended the scum who got lynched Day 1 incredibly incredibly hard because it seemed like every thought process I was having during my catchup he was having as well, and so I defended him until he died, and I wasn't able to make it past that for a long, long time. Since that messup, I was somehow avoided being lynched until LyLo, where I finally managed to figure out who was scum, but it was too little, too late. Definitely don't blame DLG for hammering me there; Neil's play in this game was fantastic even though we let him get away with a bit of lurking.

Vanilla Townie - Killed Night 3 |

Another case of scum playing well and me being left in the darkest of the darkest darkness about it. I tried of a bit of a different playstyle that I liked although it is completely different to my current playstyle, but it was interesting. I called a townread of the day whenever the hell I felt like it; hilariously enough, my first one was wrong :P. I got her partner pretty quickly, though, after the townies decided they weren't going to lynch anymore townreads of mine, but I got killed before I could realize oh my god Purple Orange is actually scum.

All hail the Amished Tell. I had played another game with Amished where the famous thing first came into use, but this game is the greatest example of it. Another townie picked up on the Goon's scumminess and gotten him lynched while I was pushing the other scum pretty hard, then the other scum got replaced and drops the Amish tell. I didn't really have that much faith in it, but then the guy gets replaced and his new replacement drops that shit again and I'm like "okay, you're done. either you're scum or I'm scum, die.". And he flipped scum. Now, I have a modified version that I keep in my pocket since it's gotten so warped lately, but it's still proven accurate as fuck to this day. The only tell I will ever trust, <3 and miss Amished :(

Vanilla Townie - Killed Night 1 |

Pretty good game for me. I replaced into this game without any IC cares or whatever, and decided just to play. Pegged a scum that replaced out, which took the wind out of my sails a bit, but attacked the cop enough where I was killed over him, which is a VT's number one job. The scum I pegged died the next day, and town cleaned up after that. This game is the reason why you shouldn't really avoid nightkills; sometimes, it's just what the game needs for a town win, even if your reads are still pretty good.

Cop - Killed Night 2 |
Mafia Win |
I tried outing myself early so my investigation didn't go to waste; it wasn't the best of moves. Personal interaction is still a HUGE part of finding scum, and confirming yourself takes that opportunity away, it takes away the possibility for scum to be stupid and not kill you, it ruins so many things and I will never pull crap like that again, probably. I did manage to confirm moose as town with a cop investigation and aaah through a bit of a ridiculous gambit (chocolate and strawberry townies, lol), which SHOULD have given town a better chance, but Escho acted quickly and aaah was impulsive, and so town didn't pull this one through :(. Decently impressed with my game here though, despite all of the fuckups.

AAAAAH THIS GAME WAS SO FUCKED SO UTTERLY UTTERLY FUCKED. AGH. Every single slot was replaced except for one (and it wasn't the mod's), and I ended up replacing in late game with everything going to shit. And I don't like replacing into scum slots when the town is apathetic because it feels like nothing really matters and you're just sitting there waiting for the town to drop the guillotine on itself and even when you do win it doesn't matter because the game was a hell hole of hell. Glass was a great mafia partner, though. Game was just stupid and bad. Argh.

Cop - Killed Night 1 |
Mafia Win |
I didn't live long, but this was a good game. One of the newbies got a bit eager and tried hammering a bit prematurely in a way that was fucking town as fuck even though it was on my top suspect at the time, but then I managed to turn things around a bit and get Stels lynched as scum, which felt good. Sundy pulled out an impressive win in the end, but we made him work long and hard for that one. It was a shame I was a power role, but the 1 v 1 trade was worth it. This game left me pretty convinced that I couldn't play on top of my game unless I played normally even when I got a power role, and overall, was pretty happy about it.

Mafia Goon - Survived |
Mafia Win |
We gave town the business in this one, which is always nice. Elyssa was an extremely gifted scumpartner, and we coasted through the first couple of days pretty easily. Splitfarvle pulled a damn good desperation measure out of nowhere in LyLo which floored the hell out of us, but our play was strong enough in the past and he made *just the right amount* of mistakes for us to pull the win through. It was crazy scary to have the game wrapped up and then out pops a cop that has innocents on every townie alive, though. Crazy, crazy scary; I haven't seen anyone pull that off since.

Vanilla Townie - Killed Night 1 |

Hoppster collected himself a nice win in this one. I don't really think anyone knew what the hell was going on in this one, which happens sometimes. I was impressed by Pine's first showing as a newbie, though. Aggressive as hell and somehow managed to throw out gambits that didn't fuck everything over... impressive. Ended up being a pretty classic game, though, with scum doing exactly what scum had to do and getting a win as a result.

NG 1079 |
Mafia Roleblocker - Lynched Day 2 |
Mafia Win |
So, in the beginning of this game when Grey and I saw we both flipped scum, we sort of chuckled to ourselves and looked forward to the easy scum sweep. Then Herodotus happened. I got pegged to the wall in this game Day 1, fought like hell to push an EASY MISLYNCH through, and then decided not to kill him during the night because we knew he was VT and we wanted to look for power roles elsewhere and we were afraid of doctor protect, and my god was that a mistake. Next day, he didn't let up, and I fought like hell and like hell, but he got me in the end. Made Grey's job a hell of a lot harder, but he pulled it through in the end because he's damn good scum playr and the cards were stacked against town from the beginning. But this game taught me a valuable lesson: when someone needs to die, kill them. Period. A blocked kill is a blocked kill, sure, but the town doesn't get an extra lynch even if you fuck up and doctor protects successfully. So don't let him live because of fear. Kill him.

Mafia Rolecop - Lynched Day 3 |
Town Win |
First loss as mafia in a newbie game, and it was all due to some impressive, impressive play by the newbies. I didn't really make any significant mistakes, escept for maybe bussing my partner a bit prematurely. Played this one classically, killed one threat (zMuffin) and buddied the hell out of the other one (Hikari Link), which got pretty much everyone to view me as town when we made it into LyLo thanks to Junpei getting himself modkilled. The last day came down to a MyLo situation with me claiming jailkeeper in order to bait a counterclaim from Ree, who I knew was the jailkeeper thanks to my rolecop result. I was pretty confident I had the game in the bag, to be honest, and I almost had Ree hammered many times. But in the end, smargaret hammered me and town handed me my first newbie game mafia loss. Another one of my favorite games, mostly because of some stellar newbie performances. Ended up marking my taking a little break from mafia.

The mark of my glorious return, and it was... glorious. The newbies in this game pretty much had the game under control, so I laid back a little bit and let them do their magic. Good thing, too, because the rust was rusty. I led the counterwagon to a scumwagon, then didn't really have any good reads or assumptions after that one, so I ended up in lametown for a while. But then some spot-on doctor play led to an auto-win, so I set that up and rolled with it. Interesting game with some good players.

Pegged scum early as hell, but ended up being a nonpresence for most of the game because of things going on in the life. Ended up getting him lynched Day 1 and scum didn't even kill me afterwards, which was cool. Then there was a quick mislynch because of scummy looking connections, and the final lynch on Arugula scum. Not the most breathtaking of games, but still a pretty good one. I got to play with Tracey for the first time, and that was certainly quite the experience.

Another town roll, which was pretty cool. I replaced in, started voting scum, and didn't stop voting scum until the game was over, which is a pretty good feeling. Didn't really provide much in the way of cases, but it was one of those games where everything is pretty clear and your only duty is to keep everyone on the path to victory and not do anything to rock the boat and fuck everything up. Scum had pretty much perfect night actions, though; they killed one power role and investigated the other. Can't do much against day play like this, though.

With great power comes great responsibility. This was one of these games where my responsibility bit me in the ass. I led a lynch on what I thought was a scummy looking townie who wasn't scum, and then tunneled the FUCK out of poor morton, who I was convinced was acting different from his old meta and then got him lynched Day 2. Mafia killed me then, for my job was done, and took the easy LyLo I spoonfed them. At least I got to meet happyd in this game, who is a p cool guy and stuff.

Vanilla Townie - Killed Night 1 |

This game looks too much like too many others. I push someone as scum, read them as town, try to stop the lynch, people keep it going and bad things happen. My twilight reads were pretty decent, though; I had four good townreads down and scum within 2 people, but it didn't matter because I was killed, a bunch of people got replaced, and then DLG replaced into a mafia slot and we were fucked again. Not a great game, but not a bad one. More... average.

NG 1221 |
Vanilla Townie - Survived |
Town Win |
Another one of my favorites here, and a pretty good example as to why Day 1 lynches are important. Town was pretty active in discussing wagons, and it ended up in a pretty intense Day 1 lynch, with both sides divided into two camps. My camp won, and he flipped town. I had a decent town read on Rach, who was the other wagonner, and from the way that the wagon went down, it was sort of clear to me that scum were probably divided in each camp, and since there were two flips from the 4 man camp that was formed yesterday, I attacked the scummier of people in there. His defense made it a bit clearer that he was scum (he made the mistake of defending without scumhunting at all), and we lynched him, and he flipped scum. The next day was me and Peregrine butting heads quite a bit, but situations lead things to an autowin and we wrapped things up a bit sloppily, but locked 'em up nonetheless.

Vanilla Townie - Killed Night 2 |

This loss was a frustrating one, but it was a good fight. I mislynched on Day 1 after backing off from the guy I had pegged as scum earlier because of absence. We ended up mislynching because of a weird response to a fakehammer, then I said fuck it, 1 v 1 with the guy who I had pegged yesterday. The other scum, who I didn't suspect at all, did a great job of playing up the "oh, I think you're stuck in confirmation bias", and fitz got away with squirming a lynch onto my top townread who I defended like hell for the whole game, then LyLo lynching his former top townread who claimed jailkeep because PMysterious. It taught me that 1 v 1s are a bad idea no matter how frustrating things get because it just fucks everything up and makes you look unreasonably confident, and people get terrified of that shit. I don't know why it took me this long to realize it, though.

Then I block Gila and lynch him, he was scum. Then I block Xalxe and lynch him, he was scum too. Weird game, second mafia loss in a newbie game. I didn't really play that badly this game; something about my play was just off and I couldn't really find a good mislynch to settle on. Then I ended up going V/LA while a lot of pressure was on me, so I didn't exactly have the chance to defend myself, and... quickhammered. My partner didn't have a chance against the doc/cop setup that remained, so we didn't pull it through. Props to DarkClaymore for going against me hard and early, though.

...and another Day 1 lynch as Mafia in a Newbie game, although this one made a bit more sense. I was doing perfectly fine until Uberninja and BBMolla, who had recently been at Scummer of Love with me, caught onto my play and pegged me pretty hard for it. I still wasn't about to get lynched, until I found myself V/LA at the deadline again! Fucking hell. Luckily, this one resolved a bit differently because I had sensed an early death coming and ended up buddying up hard to my scumpartner. He did the same to me even though it wasn't preplanned or anything and that shit turned out perfectly; he played well, and got the hammer at 3p LyLo. So, I was pretty much carried by a newbie partner this game, which was a new experience, but not an unpleasant one at all.

This game, I ended up tunneling pretty hard on the doctor while I let my second pick for scum lurk through things. He ended up being run up to L-1 for being scummy as fuck and claimed cop, so I pulled the wagon off him and put it on the doctor, who he quickhammered. He was quicklynched the next day, but then quickhammered by a townie, who was lyched the day after that. And then it was LyLo, and it was a case of scum who had played very well versus town who had played well, and scum took the win.

This loss hurt a little more, although it was remarkably similar to last game. I push up a doctor to L-1, scum quickhammers him. We lynch scum, but his partner was competant as fuck and we didn't catch onto him for a very long time. In this case, we had a jailkeeper to help us narrow down things a bit, and played the PoE game until I was left with two people who I thought were pretty fucking town. In the end, I stuck with trusting the townread I had the longest, but it wasn't a good idea and I lost the game for town. My second game with happyd, and exactly like the first except actually very very enjoyable and with more Nacho incorrectly tunneling people. Except I was the only power role this game, and I managed to be pretty much responsible for all three mislynches to lose the game, which is a pretty cool accomplishment if you ask me. I was also horribly wrong the entire game, which sucked a lot, but it happens, I guess. There were a few moments where I had flashes of inspiration, but most of it was blah :(. Mykonian actually ended up pegging both scum in LyLo, voting both of them, and the move weirded me out where I demanded a magic post from mykonian, it didn't impress me, I hammered. Fun game, this one. My Day 1 was a bit strange; I ended up initially suspecting the cop, but backing off before we reached a lynch. Then, I turned to my second suspect, the doctor, and got him lynched; the cop ended up quickhammering. Next day worked out a little better for me as I got my shit together and actually pushed pretty strongly against startransmission, who is a hell of a player and wasn't getting lynched, and I ended up settling for a secondary suspect lynch, who was town. I died during the night, and the cop who I almost lynched the first day pulled out the win after that. First game with Majiffy, which was pretty entertaining.

The return of my scum game! Huzzah! Helped in no small part by my amazing scumpartner, callforjudgment. Ended up being a really good game thanks to an exceptional group of newbies and a couple of replacements, though. Basketball pulled a Jailkeeper/I am not the Jailkeeper gambit that ended up making him too much of a bother to mislynch, which meant that I ended up pushing the lynch on another doctor that was quickhammered (yeah I don't know what day 1 doctor lynches were about in this stretch of time, but whatever). Toroid had a pretty nice breadcrumb of VT which involved him posting a picture of himself surrounded in Vanilla things, which was certainly interesting, and I ended up defending him hard against what was pretty much unanimous town agreement that he should be lynched so there would only be that one thing to defend against the next day. I took a hard lead against a townie that ultimately ended up flaking (which worried my scumpartner, I'm sure), and was replaced with CF Riot, who is a pleasure to play with. Klick ended up replacing the other flaker and gave me a run for my money, but in the end, town just wasn't active enough to pull it off.

Typical game, although it still hurts. Had two pretty good suspects Day 1, ended up lynching the one that was town. Got a guilty result on the other mafia member during the night, was killed, watched them fight their way to victory over a town that was lurking and in pain thanks to Aether getting himself modkilled. I don't really think the modkill changed things much, save for morale; kwll's posts the last day are pretty entertaining, though.

Really weird shit here. Scum hammered her own partner in the RVS, we flipped the fuck out, formed strong townreads on pretty much every townie alive except like 2, announced we were lynching the other scum tomorrow, and then... the game ended. There was some cheating shit during the night that's water under the bridge now, but still an interesting game, despite how short-lived it was.

Sorry Andy </3
This game was pegging obvscum Day 1, scum claiming cop, then the other scum playing really well. I ended up mislyching almost immediately day 2 on OBF because of connections (need to stop relying so much on them because when a case is formed on nothing but them, it is useless), then going crazy paranoid the next day on Andy. He ended up self-hammering himself at deadline because of an obnoxious lack of activity, but it turned out for the best because Jason ended up taking JDJD and I into LyLo, where I voted him early as hell and freaked him the fuck out, then did pretty good in establishing a case on him and drawing his vote and looking town as fuck. JDJD did the right thing, and we got the win.
Felt good for a change because I didn't really have much luck with these kinds of games lately.

Vanilla Townie - Killed Night 3 |
Mafia Win |
Excellent job to Sexcellence and James for this one. I was having a lot of trouble getting my crosshairs fixed onto the right place, until LyLo when everything sort of clicked together (mostly thanks to TOWK's innocent scum on TAM). I voted one scum almost immediately, got him lynched, and then planned to get the other lynched the next day, but TAM overthought LyLo and talked himself into hammering the townie out of the group on a weak point without thinking it over, and a loss was born. Scumteam still deserved it though, so no hard feelings. Fun game, with more impressive newbie play.

Town Cop - Survived |
Town Win |
Day 1, I peg scum, he claims cop, I counterclaim, and then during the night I'm unable to submit my action because of shenanigans in another city, and so autowin turns into almost not autowin. We end up leaving scum alive for the very, very last to be confirmed (it came down the MyLo of him vs. me), but it wasn't quite enough to pull the impossible win through. A hell of a game though; Adam12 turned what definitely should have been an open and close sort of game until a real fight, and that's an impressive feat.
