12P Jester Mafia

12P Jester Mafia is a simple 12-player game that features Mafia and Jester interplay. 10P Jester Mafia is the setup this variation is based on.

Setup

Mechanics

  • Daystart
  • The Jester wins if it is lynched on any day.
  • The Jester winning does not end the game.
  • The Jester doesn't win if still alive in situations where mafia controls 50% of the votes.
  • Cop receives results in the form of Mafia/Not Mafia.

Role PM's

Mafia Goon

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia Goon, along with your partners, [Player Name] and [Player Name].

Abilities:

  • Factional communication: During the night phase you may talk with your partners here [QuickTopic link].
  • Factional kill: Each night phase, one of you or your partners may perform the factional kill.

Win condition:

  • You win when you control 50% of the town or nothing can prevent this from occurring.


Jester

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Jester.

Abilities:

  • It is your mission to get yourself lynched. You have no night actions.

Win condition:

  • You win if you get lynched at any time.


Vanilla Townie

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Vanilla Townie.

Abilities:

  • Your weapon is your vote, you have no night actions.

Win condition:

  • You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.


Town Cop

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Cop.

Abilities:

  • Each night phase, you may investigate one player in the game by PM'ing the mod. You will get results back in the form of Mafia/Not Mafia.
  • You know you are guaranteed to be sane.

Win condition:

  • You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.


Town 1-Shot Doctor

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town 1-Shot Doctor.

Abilities:

  • For one night phase, you may protect a player in the game from being nightkilled.

Win condition:

  • You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.

Criticism

In practice, the Jester almost always wins, which is an obvious balance concern. 12-players is probably not a favourable number to house three Mafia and a Jester for town.

  • Open 38 - (Jester Win) Note: Setup used the rule that doesn't allow Mafia/Town to continue playing if Jester is lynched.
