8Matrix is a Variable Open setup for 9 players. It was designed by Quilford.

Setup

The setup is randomly generated by selecting a row, column, or diagonal with three cells from the table below and then adding Vanilla Townies and Mafia Goons to the selected roles so that there are 2 Mafia players and 7 Town players.

Mechanics

  • The game is a Daystart.
  • In the case where the Town Roleblocker and Town Jailkeeper target each other, the Roleblocker's action resolves before the Jailkeeper's.

Mafia Goon

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia Goon, along with your partner, [Player Name].

Abilities:

  • Factional communication: During the night phase you may talk with your partner here [QuickTopic link].
  • Factional kill: Each night phase, one of you or your partner may perform the factional kill.

Win condition:

  • You win when all members of the town have been eliminated or nothing can prevent this from occuring.


Mafia 1-Shot Strongman

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia 1-Shot Strongman, along with your partner [Player Name], a Mafia Goon.

Abilities:

  • Factional communication: During the night phase you may talk with your partner here [QuickTopic link].
  • Factional kill: Each night phase, one of you or your partner may perform the factional kill.
  • Strongman kill: If you are submitting the factional kill, you may decide whether or not to make it guaranteed to take effect. You can only guarantee the kill once.

Win condition:

  • You win when all members of the town have been eliminated or nothing can prevent this from occuring.


Mafia Role Cop

  • Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Mafia Role Cop, along with your partner [Player Name], a Mafia Goon.

Abilities:

  • Factional communication: During the night phase you may talk with your partner here [QuickTopic link].
  • Factional kill: Each night phase, one of you or your partner may perform the factional kill.
  • Role Cop: Each night phase, you personally may investigate one player in the game to discover their role title. You can investigate and kill in the same night.

Win condition:

  • You win when all members of the town have been eliminated or nothing can prevent this from occuring.


Vanilla Townie

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Vanilla Townie.

Abilities:

  • Your weapon is your vote, you have no night actions.

Win condition:

  • You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.


Town Cop

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Cop.

Abilities:

  • Each night phase, you may learn the alignment of a player you select.

Win condition:

  • You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.


Town Jailkeeper

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Jailkeeper.

Abilities:

  • Each night, you may select a player in the game to jailkeep. This will simultaneously roleblock them and protect them from one nightkill.

Win condition:

  • You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated and there is at least one town player alive.


Town Roleblocker

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Roleblocker.

Abilities:

  • Each night phase, you may disable all the active abilities of a player of your choice.

Win condition:

  • You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.


Town Tracker

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Tracker.

Abilities:

  • Each night phase, you may select a player. You will learn the name of the player that person targeted with an ability (if any).

Win condition:

  • You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.


Town Doctor

  • Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Doctor.

Abilities:

  • Each night phase, you may choose a player to protect from the Mafia's night kill. They are guaranteed to live through the night unless a Mafia Strongman submitted the kill on them.

Win condition:

  • You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.
