Survivor ELOs

The Survivor ELO is an ELO rating calculated using placings and data from Mafiascum's Survivor games. The data used is taken from the sixteen currently completed Survivor games, all of which have been tabulated here.

History

The ELO ratings were calculated for the first time on January 11th, 2012. Players whom had played at least two of the sixteen games at that point were considered, numbering sixty two. The process for additional calculations, however, is different to the initial calculation. Upon completion of a game, and its subsequent submission to the curator:

• Every participating player's new ELO will be calculated.
• If a player has an ELO already, they will simply be adjusted according to their performance. The k value of these players will in most cases be 15.
• If a player does not have an ELO, they will be given a starting ELO of 1200. Their first calculation will, in addition, be considered 'provisional' - as such, their k value will be 25 instead of 15. Provisional players are not ranked with other players. The next game played by a provisional player will be calculated as normal, with a k value of 15.

Current Status

The current curator of the ELO ratings is Xalxe, as preceded by Drench, and any questions or game submissions should be sent to him. The most recent game calculated is Survivor: All Stars. Upon its conclusion, Survivor: Middle Earth will be calculated and the ELOs will be adjusted accordingly.

Currently, this page includes three lists:

• Active: This list includes players who have played at least one of the past three completed games, and who have played two or more games overall. This should be considered the current "leaderboard," if that's the kind of thing that you like.
• Inactive: This list includes all players who have not played any of the last three completed games. Due to size, this list is currently on a subpage.
• Provisional: This list includes all players who have only played one game. A player's first game is calculated differently, so it would be unfair to compare these players to those who have played several games.

Games other than Survivors may be considered for calculation on a case by case basis. Please keep in mind that this page is intended to calculate player skill in the highly dramatic, social-driven long-term games that Survivor embodies. As such, any new considerations would need to keep to a similar vein.
