The New Recruit is an open setup game designed by IceGuy.

Setup

  • 2 Mafia Goons
  • 1 Town Jailkeeper
  • 9 Vanilla Townies

or

  • 3 Mafia Goons
  • 2 Town Jailkeepers
  • 1 Town Cop
  • 6 Vanilla Townies

Mechanics

Night start, with only the two initial Goons getting their role PM. The only action that can be performed on Night 0 is the Recruit on Night 0 one. After Night 0 has ended, the remaining roles will be distributed and game starts fully on Day 1.

Role PMs

Mafia Goon

Hi, [player]. You are a Mafia Goon.

Your partner is [player], who is also a Mafia Goon.

You win when all living players are aligned with the Mafia, or nothing can prevent the same.

Factional abilities:

  • Recruit on Night 0: On Night 0, you may send in the name of a player. This player will join your faction and receive a Mafia Goon role PM.
  • Night kill: On every night but Night 0, you may send in the name of a player. You will attempt to kill this player.
  • Communication: You can converse with each other during the Night (including Night 0) here: [quicktopic]

Town Jailkeeper

Hi, [player]. You are a Town Jailkeeper.

You win when all living players are aligned with the Town, or nothing can prevent the same.

Abilities:

  • Jailkeep: On every night but Night 0, you may send in the name of a player. You will protect and roleblock this player. If there are two jailkeepers, and both of them target each other, both jailkeeps will fail.

Town Cop

Hi, [player]. You are a Town Cop.

You win when all living players are aligned with the Town, or nothing can prevent the same.

Abilities:

  • Investigate: On every night but Night 0, you may send in the name of a player. You will investigate this player and receive a result of "Mafia" or "Not Mafia". The investigation is guaranteed to be sane.

Vanilla Townie

Hi, [player]. You are a Vanilla Townie.

You win when all living players are aligned with the Town, or nothing can prevent the same.

You have no special abilities.
