False roles are roles that, despite what the mod has told the player, do not actually have any effects, including targeted and passive effects. This could be used with Protective Roles, for example, like the Doctor, or manipulative roles, like the Roleblocker.

The use of False roles falls under the definition of light bastard modding by lying to the players. However, unlike most roles in this category, they can still be used without unbalance or swing. They generally depower the town, by causing confusion.
