The Vengeful Gambit involves a Vengeful deliberately playing scummily in LyLo in order to draw a hammer from scum.
When To Use
In three player LyLo, when the town player either has the ability to shoot scum after their lynch (and win).
This also works if the player is Loved and can't be lynched in LyLo.
Execution
The Vengeful Townie plays in a way to draw the vote from one of the remaining players. If the other player quickhammers, they are essentially claiming scum; otherwise, the Vengeful Townie will continue to play scummily until the other player (who at this point is more than likely Town-aligned) hammers. Now lynched, the Vengeful Townie will shoot the good-as-outed scum player for the Town win.
This is by far the most acceptable circumstance to play Vengeful Townie with the intention of actually using your shot.
History
While this has been done a few times successfully, the current rarity of the Vengeful Townie role makes it unlikely that the scum player will see this gambit coming.
However, the ability for roles like Vengeful or Loved Townie to break the endgame has caused most moderators to disable such roles in endgame, rendering this gambit obsolete in many games.
