3d3 is the current Newbie Setup, intended to address flaws found in the prior setup. The preceding Newbie Setup was Matrix6, but the setup contained a breaking claim strategy and the potential for major role-related apathy, and was thus phased out.
Setup name
The name of the setup is derived from the way the setup can be generated, with the roll of 3 3-sided dice. 3 remains a core theme of the game, with the earliest possible game ending being day 3, and there being on average 3 power roles in the game.
Setup
Die 1 | Die 2 | Die 3 | |
---|---|---|---|
Mafia | Roleblocker | Rolecop | Goon |
Town | Doctor | Tracker | Cop |
Town | Rolecop | Roleblocker | Jailkeeper |
The setup is determined by randomly three dice with 3 sides each. The first die selects the "mafia" Die. The other two rolls determine which of the two "town" roles are to be used. a "1" result on the second or third die is re-rolled.
The remaining 6 slots are filled with 5 Vanilla Townies and 1 Mafia Goon to create a 7-town, 2-mafia setup.
For example, if the die came up as "3,1,2" the setup would become 2x Mafia Goon vs. Town Doctor, Town Roleblocker, 5x Town Vanilla
