Keep Things Simple
For posts, succinct. For setup spec/player interaction, occam's razor.
Fit reads to evidence, not evidence to reads
Don't warp the facts.
Footnotes
Value in Evidence-to-reads
I've talked about this before, but briefly, gut and logic are similar (not opposite) entities. There is value to trying to explain a gut read with logic; it's actually my primary playing style. The rule is mainly meant to differentiate "explaining the gut read" and "making BS up to fit the gut read"--you want to avoid the latter and aim for the former.
Additionally, note that all rules are more accurately defined as guidelines; though following these rules will generally serve you well, note that there will always be exceptions to the "rules".
Wrap-up
Though these rules may seem like common sense and are fairly self-explanatory, under the current site meta, they are surprisingly not as common as they should be. This article is meant to emphasize their importance and draw attention to their necessity.
