The Serial Killer is like a lone Mafia member. The Serial Killer kills once per night, and his goal is to be the sole survivor. Frequently they are not allowed by the Game Moderator to forgo their night kill.
The Serial Killer can have different names such as Psychopath, and may have complimentary roles on the Town side, such as the Psychiatrist.
Serial Killer is often abbreviated SK, not to be confused with the scummer SaberKitty.
