The following variant roles have abilities that involve healing or protecting other players during the game:
Bodyguard: The Bodyguard is either a normal Doctor or a Doctor with a 50% chance that he successfully protects his target and finds out his target's attacker, and a 50% chance that the Bodyguard dies instead. Other variations include a role that protects someone, and if their target is killed, and the bodyguard and the attacker die instead of target. See also Information Roles.
Faith Healer: The Faith Healer is a Doctor with a 50% chance of success, and can not protect self.
Firefighter/Arsonist: The Arsonist is a Serial Killer with a 50% chance of killing. The Firefighter is like a Doctor, and protects players from death by fire.
Nurse: The Nurse assumes the Doctor's abilities one day after the Doctor dies.
Psychiatrist/Psychopath: The Psychopath is a SerialKiller. The Psychiatrist chooses one player each night, and if that player is the Psychopath, the Psychopath is healed and becomes a normal Citizen. Sometimes a regular Doctor will have the Psychiatrist's ability. If the Psychopath dies, the Psychiatrist generally becomes a normal Doctor.
