A Purifier is a role that removes any lingering effects from a target player and protects a player from lingering effects.
Standard version
A Purifier protects a player from lingering effects and removes lingering effects from a player. Lingering effects are effects from roles that last for some amount of time longer than an instant. Lingering effects include but are not limited to the priming of an Arsonist, the poison of a Poisoner, and the protection from a Seraph Knight.
Delayed roles, Neighborization, being given items from a role like an Inventor, and alignment or role changes like from a Cult Leader or Vanillaizer don't inflict lingering effects and thus are not affected by a Purifier.
Variations
Delayed roles can be seen as a lingering effect rather than merely affecting next Night's resolution and thus could be seen as a lingering effect. PT access from a Neighborizer could also be seen as a lingering effect rather than an instantaneous effect.
Clarifying what counts as a lingering effect is helpful.
Sample Role PMs
The standardized Role PM for "Purifier" describes the action as follows:
- As a targeted action:
that player will be protected from and cleared of any lingering effects.
(edit)
Example (simplest form)
Welcome to game! You are a Town Purifier.
You have the following active ability:
- Each Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be protected from and cleared of any lingering effects.
You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.
Confirm by replying to this PM with a summary of your role.
Example (with modifiers)
Welcome to game! You are a Town 1-shot Loud Purifier.
You have the following active ability:
- Once in the game at Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be protected from and cleared of any lingering effects. Your target will learn that you targeted them (but not what action you targeted them with).
You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.
Confirm by replying to this PM with a summary of your role.
