Mastin2

mastin2 is an alt created by Mastin on his scumday, October Eighth. At the time, he had left the site from regular play, and he created the account so that if he ever decided to return, he could redeem his past failures under that name. When he did return, he used the name Mastin still, but after he made a promise--a gambit, a bet--which he lost, to follow through on it, he could never play as Mastin again. So, he reactivated mastin2 to replace him.

Name

"mastin2" was not chosen as Mastin's new name because it was "Mastin" with a 2 at the end. If that were the case, he would simply have been "Mastin2". However, the careful observer will note that mastin2 has a lowercase m. This was intentional. The reason for this was that Mastin's name comes from the Artix Entertainment forums, where his name there is "mastin2". He referred to himself as "Mastin", and so, when he came to mafiascum.net, that is the name he referred to himself as: Mastin.

Usage

After Mastin had gone on hiatus, he decided to create an account on his ScumDay, for him to use upon his return. This account was mastin2, a name Mastin felt more comfortable in. However, Mastin feared he was still the Village Idiot he was when he left the site. He wanted the name mastin2 to remain untarnished, entering Newbie 1024 as Mastin. His intention was to switch over once he had become comfortable on the site.

After his failed gambit in There Will Be Bloodshed, Mastin switched over to mastin2 a bit prematurely, but was relatively settled in, enough to the point where he was comfortable risking playing as mastin2.

Mastin has been in two too many games under this name and considers his experience in Calcifer to count for a third.

Mastin is also too lazy to update his Wiki nowadays, but Mastin has promised he'll get around to it, eventually.

First Signature

^Made after Mastin's retirement, this signature was essentially meant to show Mastin's eventual goal: he wanted to become a good player, to redeem himself for the negative reputation he had gained.

Second Signature

• Mastin's second signature was created by two events occuring simultaneously: Tricycle Mafia and a Mini Game, both which boosted his confidence in himself and made himself feel like an accomplished scumhunter, albeit one who was still growing. The signature is:

(Yes, I like the letter M. :P)

• The first half refers to something about Mastin's style of play he discovered in There Will Be Bloodshed, which continued into Mirror Mafia. (Both times as Calcifer.) Mastin might occasionally stop a scum lynch, but far more often than not, he halts "Moronic Mislynches", on easy targets.

• The second half refers to Mastin's lack of communication skills. While he is well aware he's frequently on to something, he lacks the charisma to get people to follow him.

• Variants: Mastin's Second Signature is still currently in place. However, it has since further evolved to include more in it.

• • I'm a wallcaholic.

• • • This piece of the signature was added after a comment from Nacho in Werewolf Island sparked Mastin to realize that Walling is, indeed, akin to an addiction to him. Unable to resist the urge to turn it into a pun, he soon created this saying, and figured it would be best added to his signature.

• • I'm a fountain of knowledge; vast experience allows me to teach. You best listen to me, or later wish you had.

• • • This final piece of Mastin's signature refers to an old aspect of Mastin which was recently revived, at the end of Mirror Mafia: Mastin loves to teach. Mastin has stated in the past, "if there is one thing I can take Pride in, it's Teaching". To honor this, he thought it was definitely signature-worthy. With roughly forty games worth of experience, in which he covers the full spectrum of "best town scumhunter" all the way to "worst VI ever", his multiple experiences as scum, his time away from the site pondering new strategies, his reading up on older games, his memorization of the wiki, and his fondness for MD, Mastin has a lot of wisdom, a unique insight into the game allowing him to teach even some experienced veterans a few new tricks. Additionally, this addon to his signature also ties into the original part, about being right--people will regret not having listened to him later, when Mastin was telling them exactly what they needed to do.
