A 50% role is a role that only has a 50% chance of working. For example, a 50% vig has half of a chance that each of his kills will fail. The player is typically not told that they are a 50% role. In most games, the player will not have time to discover why their role is not working properly, and so many people consider using 50% roles bastard modding.
