Revision as of 08:51, 13 May 2007

PJ has been a member of Mafia Scum since November 28, 2005.

(16-18-0-5-1) (Wins-Losses-Ties-Abandoned, Uncounted). Currently alive in 3 games, 4 are in progress. I'm modding and co-modding too many games for my own good.

My counterpart is Glork. I am also Co-Founder of those who use the Too Townie fallacy along with Ibaesha. Right paw of Zindaras; there are also ludicrous rumours that I am the right paw of Felinus Maximus. Enjoys slugging CrashTextDummie, huggling AmeliaSlay, and biting various people, such as al_kohaulec.

Based on the past half year of playing, however, I am considering changing my name to "He Who is Doomed to Lose", unless that handle is already taken.

Newbie Games

(3-1).

  • #166, Gang War in Newtown. 12/04/05 - 02/19/06. Modded by Mr. Flay.
    • Townie, Survived. Town Wins!
    • A drawn-out GMT 4 days, with a scum lynch D1, two unintentional no-lynches from deadlines (from good stalling tactics by the final scum), and finally the scum lynch D4.
  • #206, Spring Break. 03/16/06 - 04/20/06. Modded by Nai.
    • Busybody (Cop), Killed N2. Scum Wins...
    • A fairly interesting read, in particular containing some good discussion on the subject of Cops in general. Nicely played by scum.
  • #224, Mickey Mouse Club. 05/07/06 - 07/05/06. Modded by Nai.
    • Role: Minnie Mouse, Doctor, Killed N2. Town Wins!
    • A fairly average Newbie game, with the largest problem by far being the constant lurking which activated a deadline on Day One. I actually managed to pinpoint the scum on Day Two, but odd voting circumstances caused me to slightly change my mind... luckily the last townsperson was able to make the right decision in the end!
  • #254. 07/11/06 - 09/12/06. Modded by MeMe.
    • Role: Townie, Survived. Town Wins!
    • Oh my holy moly of spimole. What a game! I won't bother spoiling anything, although this is certainly a suggested read.

Little Italy Games (Unthemed Minis)

(4-3-0-1), 0 in Progress.

  • #275, Subject. 01/22/06 - 03/15/06. Modded by Kenji.
    • Drama, Sane Cop, Survived. Town Wins!
    • A very well-played game by scum (especially during the day, if not the best choices at night), circumvented by shrewd play from the town since the beginning of Day 2 and Day 3. We basically lined up all the possible scum and had them disposed of one by one until we got them all. Some interesting twists along the way, however, so it still made for good reading.
  • #305, Stages of Life. 04/06/06 - 05/04/06. Modded by TSAGod.
    • Role: 30's, Doctor.
    • Mod Abandoned...
  • #313, Double Dethy. 04/18/06 - 06/17/06. Modded by Twomz.
    • Role: Sane Cop, Killed N2. Draw, Counted as Town Win!
    • An excellent example of how Dethy is played. A drastic change in the rules midway through the game to help the Mafia (after they had already lost) is the factor which allows me to count this as a town win.
  • #319, Most Mountainest. Replaced 05/11/06 - 09/13/06. Modded by Fletcher.
    • Role: Townie, Replaced Twilight D1, Killed N4. Scum Wins...
    • Ugh. This game pretty much sealed my hatred for mountainous games. Lots of effort put into a game which ultimately chalked up a big 0-1 on the record! Scum played exceptionally well, even though I managed to force a lynch on one of the scum by jumping up and down and demanding death at one point in the game.
  • #324, Goofball Mafia. 05/07/06 - 06/12/06. Modded by DrippingGoofball.
    • Role: Bugs Bunny, Doc Finder. Endgamed Day Two. Mafia Wins...
    • An unfortunate game that I will not look upon happily. Still an overall interesting read, but games where the town is already in LyLo by Day Two (and in fact, could have already lost by Day Two if one Mafia member had read their PM correctly) have something wrong with them.
  • #334, Band. 06/02/06 - 08/01/06. Modded by Aureal.
    • Role: Trombone, Tracker, Killed Night Three. Town Wins!
    • By far the most interesting aspect of this game was the fact that I very adamantly defended scum on Day One, and the repercussions of such an action affected everything that happened afterwards. The scum played well under the circumstances, but I think the power of the town was too much for scum to pull off a win after a scum-lynch on Day One, all things considered.
  • #361, Leper. 08/12/06 - 10/10/06. Modded by Pablito.
    • Role: Leper, Vanilla Townie, Killed N1. Town Wins!
    • The longest mini game of its time! Day One took an astounding thirty pages, and it was all worth it! Scum were lynched 1-2-3, and the scum only managed to nightkill townies. The town had to tiptoe around two of the most scummiest townspeople I have ever seen, but somehow managed to pintpoint each scum. Also has a good example of Jelly going on the offensive (only to change his mind later!)
  • #368, Town of Suspicion. 08/30/06 - 02/22/07. Modded by Lordy, taken over by Kelly Chen.
    • Role: Townie. Asked to be replaced on D3, endgamed D4. Scum Wins...
    • Bad game. I wouldn't suggest reading it.

Coney Island Games (Themed Minis)

(7-4-0-1), 2 in Progress (Alive in 2).

  • #260, Miyazaki. 12/08/05 - 01/04/06. Modded by Nai.
    • Haku, Sane Cop, Survived. Town Wins!
    • A relatively quick game terrorized by deadlines and post restrictions, we somehow managed to lynch all three scum the first three days. It was very well played by scum (and I'm being quite serious), and the town was lucky, in my opinion, as to how events unfolded. This game could have been a complete turnaround.
  • #261, Summit. 12/09/05 - 01/13/06. Modded by VisMaior.
    • Hotel Manager, Doctor Killed N1. Town Wins!
    • A lucky game for the town, with a guilty investigation on the first Day, a Mafia/SK conflict N2, which afforded the town two possible mislynches, one of which we used. This game also had an interesting alternate win mechanism for the scum, although they were never given the chance at such a tactic.
      • Replaced as Hammurabi, Townie, Day 2, Survived.
  • #270, Mormon Town. 01/12/06 - 03/12/06. Modded by Kain.
    • Hometeacher/Mason, Killed Night 3. Town Wins!
    • An insane game which turned out be very much controlled by the Masonry behind the scenes. General confusion all around, and almost a perfect lynching record except that the final scum managed to deflect attention away from herself for one final day (which I wasn't around for, sigh). Probably one of my best-played games.
  • #276, ScumChat. 01/21/06 - 03/27/06. Modded by StevieT92.
    • Role: StevieT92 (aka The Squeakers 92), Serial Killer. Lynched D5. Cult wins...
    • One of my best-played game as scum: I think a rule of thumb for me is that I am much better at being a Serial Killer (since I have no allegiance) than I am at being paired scum. I'm particularly happy with this game (even though I ultimately lost), and I think it is strategically insightful for both Serial Killers, Back-Up Serial Killers (which I was unaware of), and cult strategies. An overall good read, I would say, both blindly and after role-reveal. This game pretty much gave rise to my hatred of cults, however. Day Four and Day Five have awesome fireworks which is worth reading.
  • #292, Mythical Monster. Replaced 04/12/06 - 04/18/06. Modded by EnderX
    • Basilisk, Mafia Goon. Replaced Phoebus D3, Lynched D3. (D'oh). Town Wins...
    • A very well played game by town, with a classic example of yours truly going down in flames as soon as he replaced. Hehe.
  • #298, CaddyShack. 03/23/06 - 04/08/06. Modded by elvis_knits.
    • Role: Danny Noonan, Horny Caddy, Searching Mason. Survived. Town Wins!
    • This was a rather stunted game which flew by very quickly. Not very much discussion during the day, and not the most interesting of conversations either, sadly. Fair play from all sides, I thought, although the town had quite a few misunderstandings (from which much hilarity has ensued thereafter).
  • #308, Deck of Cards. Replaced 5/14/06 - 5/21/06. Modded by Beaker.
    • Role: Replaced as King of Hearts, Mafia Godfather, N3. Survived. Mafia Wins!
    • Not much that I had to do here, just wrap up the game by arguing with half the town over who to lynch. The endgame was set up perfectly by the scum who preceded me, and the town played fine excepting for a few dubious moves, which may have cost them the game in the end. Ends with some nice fireworks!
  • #310, Primetime. Replaced 5/30/06 - 07/30/06. Modded by Lostprophet.
    • Role: Replaced N2, 24, 2-Shot Vigilante. Survived. Abandoned by Mod and Players...
    • This was a fairly interesting game, except for the fact that we abandoned it and all. Scum were pretty thoroughly dead and floating in the water, though: if the game had continued, it almost assuredly would have been a town win.
  • #318, Simon. Replaced 06/14/06 - 08/24/06. Modded by Vaughn.
    • Role: Beta-Green, Mafia Role-Blocker. Survived. Mafia Wins!
    • Wow, what a game! Easily my best performance as Mafia, with two wonderful partners. We successfully confused the town as to the mechanics of the game, and managed to get through four days without losing one scum. Excellent players, excellent claims, excellent play, and excellent discussions on theory. A suggested read.
      • Note: This was the game where I received a nomination for the 2006 "Best Role Claim" Award. It was certainly something!
  • #323, Mormon Town II. 05/02/06 - 06/20/06. Modded by Kain.
    • Role: Matchmaker (Cupid), Killed N0. Draw? Personal Loss.
    • I honestly didn't really read this game, since I apparently lost automatically due to the nature of my role. 0.o
  • #347, Robotics. Replaced 09/08/06 - 05/02/07. Modded by Coron.
    • Role: Replaced D2 as Wires, Masonizer, Killed N2. Neutered Cult Wins...
    • What kind of mini game has a mafia group, a Serial Killer, and a Cult? A very bad one. The town was completely screwed in this game from start to finish. I am getting sick and tired of Cults.
  • #356, Sanity. 08/03/06 - ??/??/??. Modded by Thesp.
    • Role: Naive Mason (no partner), Killed N1. Town Wins!
    • A very strange game... I was responsible for lynching our "Doctor" Day One, although I tried to lynch the Mafia Godfather before that time... and I was then "protected" (killed) by the other "Doctor" Night One (who was actually the Serial Killer!). The town managed to lynch all three mafia afterwards!
  • #375, Old Maid. 9/23/06 - ??/??/??. Modded by MrBuddyLee.
    • Role: ???
    • Currently D4.
  • #397, Ye Olde Porte Towne. 12/30/06 - 03/10/07. Modded by Vaughn.
    • Role: Hospital Patient, Townie. Mod Abandoned...
    • A fairly interested game, where I am particularly proud of a cross-examination I conducted (of sorts) on another play. The mafia group was pretty much under out thumb, but the town would have likely - and disgustingly so - lost to the Cult Leader role, which was completely unnecessary.
  • #423, Calvin and Hobbes. 03/27/07 - ??/??/??. Modded by Mr. Stoofer.
    • Role: ???
    • Currently D1.

New York Games

(1-2).

  • #45, Back to Gambits II. 12/23/05 - 03/03/06. Modded by Mr Stoofer.
    • Mafia, Killed N3. Town Wins...
    • A difficult game for scum, with the town being able to confirm it's members with Masons, Governor, and resurrection roles. The game went downhill after I made a gambit out of claiming Judas Day One, which did not go over well. A very well-played game by an observant town, however.
  • #47, Kingmaker. 02/21/06 - 07/11/06. Modded by BrianMcQueso.
    • Role: Assassin (Scum), Executed D4. Town Wins...
    • Man, what a heartbreaking game. One of my better performances as scum, although as usual, the end was fruitless. Even when I was dead, my comments lived far into the game, and became the subject of most analysis! This may have had a better result if it were not for the fact that three of my scummates were monumentally scummy, and in fact lurked throughout much of the game.
  • #51, No Use For a Title. 06/05/06 - 08/16/06. Modded by Cadmium and mikeburnfire.
    • Role: Mason, Survived. Town Wins!
    • A somewhat interesting read, and the town really lucked out by a large amount of cross-kills. Fair play from all sides, but nothing really spectacular. Average game.

Theme Park Games

(0-8-0-2-1), 2 in Progress (Alive in 1).

  • Survivor. 02/04/06 - 10/19/06. Modded by rajrhcpfreak and inHimshallibe.
    • Replaced as Silas Gaither, Mason (Alliance) Recruiter N1, Shot N2. Soccer Alliance Mafia Wins...
    • Commentary: To come.
  • Stephen King. 02/18/06 - 06/01/06. Modded by Mr_Gnome_It_All.
    • Annie Wilkes, Mafia, Killed N0. Town Wins...
    • Ah, the power of Cops.
  • Mith's Verbose Mafia. 03/01/06 - 05/28/06. Modded by mith.
    • Role: Sister Mary Loquacious, the Satanic Nun, Mason. Stabbed in the Back N9. Scum win...
    • Excellently played by scum. What else can I say? I would definitely suggest this as good reading material for all players. An All-Star cast of players.
  • Literary. 03/29/06 - 04/26/06. Modded by Alexander. Unfinished.
    • Tom Sawyer, Pro-Town (Mason searching for Huckleberry Finn), Killed N1.
    • Dissolved by the Mod, unfinished.
  • College Mafia. 04/05/06 - ??/??/??. Modded by LoudmouthLee.
    • Brown, Ivy League Mafia, Lynched D1. Abandoned...
    • Game abandoned... I was pretty thoroughly caught in this game, very well played by town! Good example of me screwing things up (as is customary).
  • Wheel of Time. 05/17/06 - 09/29/06. Modded by Macros and Mastermind of Sin.
    • Role: Rand Al'Thor, Vigilante, killed in endgame D8. Cult wins...
    • Damned stupid-ass game. The town caught loads of scum, but still lost to a cult in the end due to them recruiting roles so that they could 'confirm' themselves.
  • Themed Large, Chrono Trigger. Replaced 08/05/06 - 01/15/07. Modded by BambooMancer and Glork.
    • Role: Replaced D4, Flea, Mason-Searcher, beaten up N6. Wait, Who Are You? Mafia Wins...
    • DAMNIT, DAMNIT, DAMNIT. What an absolutely disgusting loss. I was spot on so far as scum-hunting goes, and if anybody had followed my lists, the town would have won handily. This is easily my most undeserved loss on Mafia Scum.
  • Committee. 06/28/06 - 03/03/07. Modded by Mastermind of Sin and Ibaesha.
    • Role: Tyrik Shelby, Doctor, Killed N3. Town Drunk, Serial Killer, wins...
    • I don't know why I still play large games at this point. The Serial Killer played a good game, but it's frustrating to watch towns continually lose games when they are given wins in presents and bow-ties.
  • Kingmaker II. 09/14/06 - ??/??/??. Modded by BrianMcQueso.
    • Role: ???
    • Currently N4.
  • Two-Headed. 09/16/06 - 02/05/07. Modded by Courk and Thok.
    • Role: Mafia Godfather, partnered with the incorrigible MrBuddyLee, lynched D6. Town (disgustingly) Wins...
    • This game may be solidifier of the fact that I am condemned to lose when I am mafia no matter how well I play. I manipulated the town into doing exactly what I wanted when I felt it was necessary. I found the Vigilante, and directed him into killing people so that I would have better chances. I found the Cult Leader. Both of my mafia partners played terribly, and yet I survived. I cannot think of a single thing I would have done differently even considering hind-sight. I am thoroughly disgusted.
  • Space Monkey. Replaced 12/06/06 - 03/14/07. Modded by Mr Stoofer.
    • Role: Gorilla [Townie], Endgamed N8. Space Monkeys [Scum] Win...
    • Stupidest decision I've made in a mafia game. Much frustration and heartache describes this game for me.
  • Lights Out 2; Sleepover Slaughterfest. 01/14/07 - ??/??/??. Modded by Rainbow Brite.
    • Role: Phoebe Masterson, Townie, Killed N4.
    • Currently D6, Lynch 1.
  • Snakes on a Plane!. Replaced 03/22/07 - 05/12/07. Modded by Bluesoul and MrBuddyLee.
    • Role: Solid Snake, Godsnake, Godfather, killed N8. Town Wins...
    • Sigh. I was essentially forced to replace into this game against my will. I had a terrible position, but I manipulated it to my advantage. And then I got screwed last minute by the mod deciding to confirm a Survivor as "not a threat to the town" for absolutely no game-related reason. I can't say I would have won had that not happened, but there is a strong possibility it would have happened. This game is NOT counted in my statistics due to the interference by the mod last minute.

Marathon Games - 5th Anniversary

(1-0-0-0)

  • Semi-Open #2. 03/28/07 - 03/28/07. Modded by MeMe.
    • Role: Scum, killed N2. Scum Wins!
    • A quick game, where both me and my partner somehow escaped being lynched D1, which led to an interesting Prisoner's Dilemma on D2, which my partner played masterfully so that he would be the one on top.

Modding History

Total Modded Games: 6

  • Mini #317, Jelly Mafia. 04/22/06 - 08/14/06. Reviewed by Mr. Flay.
    • Finished! The Double-Flavor Jelly Scums Win!
    • An amazingly played game by scum, and I would certainly suggest this game as a good read. The townspeople were left chasing their own tails for much of the game, and the scum generally avoided detection the entire time. Only an ill-timed Cop reveal with results put a dent in their gameplay, which was masterfully danced around as well.
  • Themed Large, Royal Family. 11/16/06 - ??/??/??. Reviewed by Cadmium, Co-Modded by Ibaesha.

Total Co-Modded Games: 8

  • Choose Someone Else's Role, Theme Park. 03/26/06 - 05/31/06 with Commodore Amazing.
    • Finished! The Emo Kids Mafia Wins!
    • A fairly quick game (four days and four nights), with a wide variety of roles with interesting relationships between the scum groups and the town.
  • Evolution, Theme Park. 06/14/06 - 03/07/07 with Pie_is_good.
    • Finished! God's Mafia Ties with Fox!
    • I am honestly surprised this particular scum group was able to win this game at all. Fairly bad play on the town's part overall, which was furthermore definitely weighted towards the town in terms of the power the town would receive after only a few days of evolving.
  • Mini #362, Open Role Bastard, Mini Theme. 08/10/06 - 09/28/06 with Pariah.
    • Finished! Town Wins!
    • An amusing game to watch unfold, with bastardness everywhere! This game certainly lived up to its name. Despite the town being misled at almost every possible interval, they managed to successfully weed out the scum.
  • Meadow of Sorrow, Theme Park. 10/18/06 - 04/25/07 with Pariah and al_kohaulec.
    • Finished! Town Wins!
    • What a bastardly game. I didn't read much of it because the roles were so danged convoluted.
  • PS2 Sucks, Theme Park. 10/10/06 - ??/??/?? with mikeburnfire.
    • Currently D5.
  • Mini #348, Charmed, Mini Theme. Replaced Mod 12/08/06 - 02/01/07, originally by Ibaesha.
    • Finished! Town Wins!
    • Comments to come later.
  • No Pressure, Large Theme. 12/18/06 - 02/13/07 with Thok.
    • Finished! Scum Wins!
    • An intriguing set-up with an interesting premise to encourage lurking and non-posting. I think the set-up was fairly balanced; the town lost primarily due to the fact that they as a collective lynched incorrectly and vigged incorrectly.
  • Mini #435, Julius Caesar, Mini Theme. 04/25/07 - ??/??/?? with PBuG.
    • Currently confirmation stage.

Tidbits about PJ on MafiaScum

  • My favorite role is undecided between Townie and Mason: I enjoy being uninformed, but I also like the intricacies of night-talking with Masons as well as planning strategies with others for during the day.
  • My least favorite role is Mafia. I always feel like there's a large burden on me not to screw everything up (which seems to inevitably happen anyways). In fact, if I draw Mafia, I would rather not know who my partners are!
  • I have never been lynched while I have been pro-town. Don't you dare break that record!
  • Recruiting roles have a strange attraction to me in games, and fittingly enough, these recruitment attempts have always failed. They have all tried to recruit me on N2. Here are the four games which were completed, and contained recruiting roles:
    • A.) Scumchat Mini Mafia: Cult failed to recruit me N2, because I was not town (but a Serial Killer)
    • B.) Mormon Town Mini I: Mafia failed to recruit me N2, because I was not a Townie (but a Mason)
    • C.) Wheel of Time, Large: Seanchan Mafia failed to recruit me N2, because I was not a female channeler (but Rand Al'Thor)
    • D.) Robotics Mini Mafia: The Cult failed to recruit me on N2 because I was not one of the predetermined "parts of the machine" which could be converted.
  • Jelly's three biggest hates in Mafia:
    • 1.) Cults
    • 2.) Deadlines
    • 3.) Lurkers / Non-participants
      • Note: Cultists lurking at deadline would be super-hate...
  • Jelly's Top 5 Least Favorite "Don't Lynch Me!" Arguments:
    • 1.) "Help me lynch X, and I will convert you to the cult so we will win."
    • 2.) "Give me just one more day!"
    • 3.) "Trust me."
    • 4.) "But I'm always scummy."

  • I am 21 years old, going to be Senior in college at WSU for Fall of '07, studying Philosophy Pre-Law and... well, I was studying Political Science, but it bores me, to be frank (though I will likely still minor in it). I'm planning on going to Law School, and becoming a judge in the far future, though I am also now considering being a grad student in the philosophy department.
  • I am easily addicted to games. In the past, I have been hopelessly addicted to Scrabble, Chess, Crosswords, and Logic Puzzles, all of which I still find myself reverting back to every so often. I have even submitted some crosswords to Will Shortz for publishing (turned down), and a few Logic Puzzles to Dell for publishing (also turned down), but I will probably do so again when I find spare time.
  • Mock Trial has become a motivating force in my life. Our '06 team has just advanced to Nationals, and we will be heading down to St. Petersburg, Florida from March 8-13 for competition. Wish us luck! Edit: Just came back from Nationals, we had a 3-5 record! Not a winning percentage overall, but we're proud of ourselves for advancing in the first place.
  • Feb. 2007: Our team this year went 5-3 at Regionals, but didn't qualify for Nationals. What a bummer. :(
  • March 2007: Scratch that - we got an open bid which qualified us for Nationals at Hamline University, Minnesota! We'll be competing from March 16 - March 18. Once again, we returned with a 3-5 record, but it easily could have been better this year, since we had somebody who could not come with us to Nationals (which means we had to haul in a replacement), and when we arrived, another teammate came down with a fever of 103/104, so she could not compete for the first two (of four) rounds. Sad times, but good times!
  • Our Ethics Bowl team won in our Regional [last] year! Go ethics! Edit: ... And we got third this year. Though we DID win 2/3 judges in the round where we were defeated, because they used a "point system". Pssh.
