An Electrifier is a role that can electrically charge a player. If an electrically charged player ever targets another electrically charged player, both players will unavoidably die.
Standard version
An Electrifier electrically charges a player. At least two players will need to be electrically charged for this role to have any visible effect, and one of them must be capable of targeting players. If an electrically charged player ever targets another electrically charged player, a bolt of electricity will kill both players. Nothing can prevent death from electricity unless it specifically prevents death from electricity.
The electrical charge can be blocked by manipulative roles (such as a Roleblocker) as normal, and as Natural Action Resolution prioritizes protective roles over killing roles an electrically charged Rolestopper can protect a player from electrical charge without dying from electricity.
Self-targeting will not cause death by electricity.
Variations
An Electrifier could be considered a third-party in much the same way an Arsonist could be considered a third-party. In that case said Electrifier would have the Serial Killer win condition.
Use & Balance
Electrifier is typically a scum role. On a Townie, it has limited utility and is best used by electrifying a scummy player and a player likely to be the target of the factional nightkill. In a role madness game that isn't multiball, a Town Electrifier is more likely to take out town than scum.
Sample Role PMs
The standardized Role PM for "Electrifier" describes the action as follows:
- As a targeted action:
that player will be electrically charged. If an electrically charged player ever targets another electrically charged player, both players will die from a bolt of electricity.
(edit)
Example (simplest form)
Welcome to game! You are a Mafia Electrifier.
Your team-mates are names. You may talk to them here during night phases and confirmations only. You have the following active abilities, but may use only one per Night:
- Each Night, if no other member of your faction is performing this action, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will die.
- Each Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be electrically charged. If an electrically charged player ever targets another electrically charged player, both players will die from a bolt of electricity.
You win if at least one mafia member is alive and all other players are dead (or if nothing can prevent the same).
Confirm by replying to this PM with a summary of your role.
Example (with modifiers)
Welcome to game! You are a Mafia 1-shot Loud Electrifier.
Your team-mates are names. You may talk to them here during night phases and confirmations only. You have the following active abilities, but may use only one per Night:
- Each Night, if no other member of your faction is performing this action, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will die.
- Once in the game at Night, you may target a player. Assuming no interference with your action, that player will be electrically charged. If an electrically charged player ever targets another electrically charged player, both players will die from a bolt of electricity. Your target will learn that you targeted them (but not what action you targeted them with).
You win if at least one mafia member is alive and all other players are dead (or if nothing can prevent the same).
