"Semi-experienced" has a couple of definitions:
Semi-Experienced or "SE" is a label given to players who have completed four games on mafiascum.net and are signed up for a Newbie Game. Only the Newbie Queue uses this designation, as Semi-Experienced players are included in those games to ensure that the site's standard of play is represented in new players' first games. In 2013 the requirement for SE status was raised from two games to three, with at least one game taking place outside the Newbie Queue.
* Formally, it is used as a distinction for a player between Newbie and Inexperience Challenged (i.e. Experienced), for players with two finished games on mafiascum.net.
** SE players in Newbie games may play as many games as they feel that they can handle, either "from scratch" or as a replacement.  Of course, taking on too many games and replacing out of them may lead to a ban from playing in the Newbie queue.
** The SE position was created so that players who didn't qualify for IC status (or didn't want to IC at all) could still play in a Newbie game. Prior to the creation of the SE, there were only Newer Player and IC spots.  So anyone who didn't qualify as an IC was forced to take up a Newer Player spot.  This caused Newbie games to start faster than they normally would, and used up Mods and ICs at a faster rate.  The addition of the SE prevents the Newbie games from starting too quickly.
** SEs may feel free to answer questions from the Newer players, but the SE position is not a "teaching" position like the IC position is.  The SE position is simply there to make the Queue run smoother.

Despite occasional appearances, there is no official authority in the SE position.  Since they have been on the site for a while, they can aid players who are new to the site like an IC would, but unlike ICs they are under no obligation to do so.  They are simply non-Newbies who are playing a Newbie game.
* Informally, anyone who feels themself to no longer be a "noob" but are not yet confident enough in their abilities, may consider themself semi-experienced.

Despite occasional appearances, there is no official authority in the SE position. Since they have been on the site for a while, they can aid players who are new to the site like an IC would, but unlike ICs they are under no obligation to do so. They are simply non-Newbies who are playing a Newbie game.
