The Gladiator is an amazingly strong role and should be used sparingly or not outside [[Role Madness]] games. In the hands of a strong town player who is in good standing (or a town player that has been confirmed), it should almost always spell death for his opponent. However, the possibility is always there for the tables to be turned. As a scum role, it should be used very carefully, or with a lot of flair, depending on personal style.

During the day the Gladiator can choose someone. Usually done in the same manner a daykill is, they can CHALLENGE <TARGET PLAYER>. All votes are reset. Only two players are now votable, the Gladiator and their target. It is almost always one-shot.

Variations

  • Sometimes the Gladiator can choose more than one person
  • Some mods give the Gladiator a time limit as to when they can use their power, like they cannot use their power past a midway point towards the deadline. (Imagine a 14 day deadline. They could not use their power past 7 days into the Day Phase)
  • Sometimes the Gladiator's ability cannot be used in Lylo.

Use and Power

The Gladiator is an amazingly strong role[disputed] and should be used sparingly or not outside Role Madness games. In the hands of a strong town player who is in good standing (or a town player that has been confirmed), it should almost always spell death for their opponent. However, the possibility is always there for the tables to be turned. As a scum role, it should be used very carefully, or with a lot of flair, depending on personal style.

History

The role was inspired by a unique game mechanic in Mortal Kombat Mafia[1]
There is also a similar mechanic in the High Noon setup.[2]
