Natural action resolution is a system of resolving night actions adopted for use in the Matrix6 Newbie game setup.
The system is called natural action resolution because it always gives the intuitively "natural" result for simple situations. It is compatible with the order suggested in Night Choice but covers more cases.
The Golden Rule
Apply actions which modify other actions before the actions they modify.
Applying the Golden Rule in Three Easy Steps
- Find an action (or a passive modifier, such as Bulletproof) such that its effect cannot possibly be modified by any other action.
- Resolve it.
- Repeat from step 1 until all actions are resolved.

Examples by Setup Row/Column
Row 1
- Example 1:
- Town Jailkeeper jailkeeps Vanilla Townie #1.
- Mafia Goon #1 kills Vanilla Townie #1.
- Result: The jailkeep action is not modified by any other action and is processed first. Vanilla Townie #1 is simultaneously protected & blocked. Mafia Goon #1's kill fails due to Vanilla Townie #1 being protected.
- Example 2:
- Town Jailkeeper jailkeeps Mafia Goon #2.
- Mafia Goon #1 kills Vanilla Townie #1.
- Result: Neither of the night actions modify each other. Mafia Goon #2 is simultaneously protected & blocked. Vanilla Townie #1 is killed by Mafia Goon #1.
